Greater slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) is protected and endangered species or a prosimian. According to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, greater slow lorises are Currently listed as “Vulnerable” and accordion thing to the Indonesian Law No. 5 .1990 on the protection of living sources and ecosystem, They are Considered as an “absolutely protected species”. Despite this law prohibiting all trafficking of this species, the greater slow loris is one of the most trafficked primate species in Indonesia. Mainly They are sold as pets. The main threat to the greater slow loris Populations is illegal trade.
Figuring under the auspices of non-profit organization ISCP (Indonesian Species Conservation Program), is trying to deal with this situation. Purpose of this project is the conservation of slow lorises in Indonesia with a focus on the area of North Sumatra province – their natural range.
Schedule of Project will raise funding building the rehabilitation center for the slow loris That confiscated from the Department of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation North Sumatera and usefull received the slow loris voluntary donation by local people or villagers after They knowthat slow loris is protected wildlife and not a pet.
